zaliwa

The debut collection, Zaliwa (Swahili for ‘birth’) pays homage to Rwanda’s natural landscapes with a warm colour palette of melon, apricot, indigo and forest green.

Graphic prints and embroideries reference the Ghanaian Adobe Eye Symbol (‘God is watching over you’) and ceremonial fertility chair. We also celebrate tie dye and batik traditions, and stripes emerge as a central motif.

These come alive on pure silhouettes in Egyptian cotton and Faso Dan Fani woven textiles from Burkina Faso. Oversized blazers and trench coats compliment feminine wrap dresses, generous kaftans, wide-legged trousers and printed t-shirts. These are clothes that allow you to walk tall and roam freely.
